Lahore:The year 2024 was a record year for promotions in Punjab Police. Spokesperson for Punjab Police shared the details, stating that in 2024, over 4,500 police officers and personnel were promoted to higher ranks. Specifically, 12 DSPs were promoted to SPs, and 92 Inspectors were promoted to the position of DSPs. Similarly, 394 Sub-Inspectors were promoted to Inspectors, and 131 Traffic Wardens were promoted to Senior Traffic Wardens. Spokesperson further shared that 887 ASIs were promoted to Sub-Inspectors, 857 Head Constables were promoted to ASIs, and 1,730 Constables were promoted to Head Constables. Additional details provided by the spokesperson mentioned that 19 Class four staff, 27 Junior Clerks, and 19 Stenographers also received promotions. Additionally, 16 Senior Scale Stenographers, one Private Secretary, and one Assistant Director were promoted to higher positions. Furthermore, 73 employees, including technical cadre staff in the Special Branch, were promoted to higher ranks.  IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that promoting officers to higher ranks has not only honored them but also elevated their stature. The spokesperson also revealed that in the past two years, approximately 26,000 departmental promotions were granted.  IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar further mentioned that under the P-Cadet scheme, 1,010 ASIs and 438 Sub-Inspectors are being recruited. He added that the advanced schedule for the promotion boards to be held this year has also been prepared. The establishment of the Service and Promotion Structure has improved the force’s performance and trust in the protection of the country and nation, as well as better service to citizens.
