ISLAMABAD:The Ministry of Education and Professional Training and the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture will expand collaboration for effective integration of the country’s rich cultural heritage and civilizational values into the national curriculum. In this regard, Minister of State for Education, Wajiha Qamar, held a key meeting with Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting focused on promoting strategic collaboration between the two ministries to embed cultural themes into the national education system. The goal is to help students develop a deeper connection with Pakistan’s identity, history, and traditions through both curricular and co-curricular initiatives.Speaking on the occasion, Wajiha Qamar emphasized the significance of connecting education with heritage.“Pakistan’s cultural heritage is diverse and magnificent. It is our national responsibility to pass it on to the younger generations. Education should not be limited to textbooks–it must be connected to our civilization, history, and culture. We want students to understand and take pride in Pakistan’s true identity.”Echoing similar sentiments, Federal Minister Aurangzeb Khichi stated, “Culture is the soul of any nation. When we combine it with education, we lay the foundation for a conscious, purposeful, and strong society. Our ministry is fully committed to supporting the inclusion of national heritage and cultural values in educational institutions.”

As a practical step forward, the two ministers agreed to form a joint working group tasked with developing actionable recommendations. This group will design both curricular and co-curricular frameworks to ensure students engage with Pakistan’s cultural legacy in meaningful ways.
The initiative aims to preserve national heritage, foster cultural appreciation, and shape a confident and cohesive generation equipped with a strong sense of identity and national pride.
