ISLAMABAD, :Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Muhammad Jowad Tariq, held a high-level meeting on Tuesday to finalize comprehensive security arrangements for Muharram to ensure peace and public safety in the city.An official told APP that the meeting was attended by SSP Investigation, SSP Operations, Zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs. The DIG directed that enhanced patrolling and search and combing operations be carried out in sensitive areas, while all Muharram processions should be monitored through Safe City cameras.DIG Tariq said a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against aerial firing, and departmental action would be taken against any SHO under whose jurisdiction such violations occur.He emphasized that the Command and Control Room has been activated to ensure effective coordination throughout the holy month.DIG Tariq said strict checking should be ensured at the city’s entry and exit points, and special security measures should be implemented at places of worship and Imambargahs. Surveillance systems would be upgraded to strengthen city-wide monitoring.DIG said all mourners participating in processions and gatherings must be checked using metal detectors, and that Islamabad Traffic Police officers would remain deployed round-the-clock to maintain traffic flow. Ensuring the safety and security of citizens and providing them with all necessary facilities remains the top priority of Islamabad Police, he added.
