Islamabad :The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has suspended 11 officers from its Lahore Zone following an inquiry that uncovered corruption involving FIA personnel and Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) officials. The suspensions include inspectors and sub-inspectors.Two internal reports, titled “Inquiry Report on Issues Related to LESCO” and “Inquiry Report: Corrupt Practices – Connivance of LESCO & FIA Officials,” revealed the collusion. These investigations were led by former Federal Secretary Shahid Khan and chaired by Additional Secretary Sohail Habib Tajik. In line with directives from the Ministry of Interior issued in April, the FIA ordered immediate suspension and transfer of the officers from the Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore to FIA Headquarters in Islamabad. This action reflects the agency’s commitment to accountability. The suspension orders were signed by Additional Director HRM Syed Ali Akbar Shah and approved by the FIA Director General. The move aims to restore public confidence amid growing concerns about corruption in energy and law enforcement sectors. This development highlights increasing pressure on institutions to address corruption and enforce stricter measures to maintain integrity. The FIA has assured the public of continued vigilance and transparent investigations.Overall, the suspensions mark a significant step towards combating corruption and ensuring that enforcement agencies uphold the highest ethical standards. The FIA is expected to take further actions based on ongoing investigations.
