Hyderabad: Deputy Inspector General of Police Tariq Razak Dharejo, Hyderabad Range, has said that promoting interfaith harmony is the most important need of the hour. Societies prone to intolerance sink into the quagmire of moral degradation, he expressed these views while addressing the participants of the third meeting of the Range Level Peace Committee formed in the light of the Standing Order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the orders of the Inspector General of Sindh Police regarding the protection of minorities at a local club. The DIGP Hyderabad Range further said that respect for each other’s rituals and religious beliefs paves the way for tolerance in the society. SSP Hyderabad Adeel Hussain Chandio said that Hyderabad Police is vigilant and alert for the protection of places of worship of all religions and their lives and property and all available resources are being utilized in this regard. He listened carefully to the reports presented by the participants and assured full implementation of them soon. On this occasion, ADIGP Complaint Hyderabad Range Abdul Khaliq Jathial and DSP Legal Vinod Kumar Soni participated. Sindh Human Rights Commission Chairman Iqbal Dathu said that the role of the Peace Committee is very active in solving the problems of minorities. He also gave a detailed overview of the efforts being made to solve the problems faced by minorities.The aim of the meeting was to promote interfaith harmony in Hyderabad Range, ensure mutual tolerance and strengthen positive relations between different religions. The meeting was attended by important figures belonging to different religions. Later, the Head of Program, Wahid Sangrasi Civil Support Society Program (CSSP) informed the participants about the formation of the Peace Committee and its work plan and expressed his views to the participants on the aims and objectives of the establishment of the Peace Committee and its role. Inspector Munawar David, Focal Person, Minority Wing, Hyderabad Range, gave a detailed briefing to the DIGP Hyderabad Range/Chairperson, Peace Committee and all the members on the facilitation provided to minorities at the range level and its structure.
