Lahore:On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police Rescue and Relief Operation is continuing without interruption. Inspector General Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has said that in view of the recent extraordinary flood situation, Punjab Police is on high alert for the immediate assistance of the affected people and is providing every possible relief to citizens.Giving details, Punjab Police spokesperson shared that so far, 246,640 victims from flood-affected districts have been shifted to safe places, which include more than 100,000 men, 72,983 women, and 73,194 children. Furthermore, 314,579 livestock, worth millions of rupees, have also been evacuated from flood-hit areas and transported to safe locations.IG Punjab has directed the police to remain on high alert in view of the flood situation in Sahiwal, Multan, Jhang, and Muzaffargarh. IG Punjab said that with the help of thermal imaging drone cameras, trapped citizens and livestock in flood torrents are being traced and rescued. He paid tribute to police officers and personnel who demonstrated extraordinary courage and bravery in saving precious human lives. He directed the officers to further enhance security, surveillance, and patrolling in the evacuation areas to provide maximum protection to the victims. He also instructed to ensure the protection, shelter, medicines, food, and other necessities of life for the victims in the flood relief camps. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 15,000 police officers and personnel, over 700 vehicles, and 40 boats are participating in the rescue and relief operation.
