Lahore:Owner of illegal housing society on 12,000 kanals in the Ravi River arrested. According to details, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Department has intensified the crackdown on illegal housing schemes along the Ravi River after the recent floods. The owner of an illegal housing scheme built on 12,000 kanals has been arrested during a major operation in Lahore. Director General Anti-Corruption Sohail Zafar Chattha revealed that the arrested accused is accused of transferring Rs 8 billion to Dubai. The alleged collusion of some officers of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) in this project has also come to light. According to the DG Anti-Corruption, summons have been issued to Ruda and LDA and records of all relevant housing schemes have been sought. Details of the schemes built along the Ravi River are also being obtained to determine the causes and those responsible for the flood disasters. The scope of the investigation has been expanded and the money from illegal housing schemes will be returned to innocent people. Earlier, Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb had said that after the flood recovery, there will also be an effective operation to eliminate encroachments. In the light of recent experiences, the government will prepare a comprehensive strategy to minimize losses in the future. While Federal Minister Mosaddiq Malik said that the government is preparing a policy at the district level to prevent encroachments along the riverbanks and protect populated areas from flood waters, and a plan to build small water reservoirs is also under consideration. Illegal structures, hotels and resorts built along the riverbanks will be demolished.
