Lahore:On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in view of the ongoing flood situation in various districts of Punjab, Punjab Police are actively engaged on the frontline in the Rescue and Relief Operation, serving the citizens. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, said that in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari and other flood-affected districts, evacuation and protection of citizens and livestock is being ensured. Punjab Police are providing full assistance to the concerned departments.IGP Punjab said that more than 16,000 officers and personnel of Punjab Police, 746 vehicles, and more than 40 boats are participating in the Rescue and Relief Operation in flood-affected areas. IGP Punjab also appreciated the RPOs and DPOs of the affected areas for ensuring the best rescue and relief operation under their supervision. The spokesperson Punjab Police said that a total of 494,822 citizens have so far been evacuated from flood-affected districts including Lahore, which include 213,157 men, 150,000 women, and 131,804 children. Alongside citizens, Punjab Police also evacuated 567,778 livestock from flood-affected areas to safe places.From Multan Region, 155,926 citizens; from Faisalabad Region, 71,302 citizens; from D.G. Khan Region, 61,237 citizens; and from Sahiwal Region, 53,427 citizens were evacuated. IGP Punjab appealed to the citizens to fully cooperate with Punjab Police and the concerned departments in the evacuation process in order to ensure the protection of precious human lives.
