ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi chaired a high-level coordination meeting at the Central Police Office on Wednesday, bringing together Islamabad Police and representatives of schools and colleges to strengthen joint efforts against drug abuse under the “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign.

An official told APP that senior police officers and representatives of various educational institutions attended the meeting, during which Islamabad Police and school and college administrations formally appointed focal persons to ensure effective coordination and timely sharing of information.During the meeting, it was decided to develop a comprehensive joint strategy to curb narcotics and dismantle networks involved in the drug trade. The participants also agreed to organise special awareness seminars in educational institutions to educate students about the harmful effects of narcotics and protect the younger generation from drug abuse.The meeting reaffirmed that all available resources would be utilised to safeguard students and that no negligence or leniency would be tolerated at any stage. It was further resolved that drug networks would be fully exposed and dismantled, and all individuals involved would face strict legal action.IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that at the government level, Islamabad Police, along with other law-enforcement agencies, were working relentlessly to eliminate narcotics. He added that the “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign was a key initiative aimed at making Islamabad drug-free.He noted that for better results and effective monitoring, representatives of educational institutions would be provided with proper training, and urged school and college administrations to work closely with law-enforcement agencies to protect students.Calling for collective responsibility, the IGP Rizvi emphasized that awareness campaigns should be conducted jointly to educate youth about the dangers of narcotics. He reiterated that Islamabad Police would not allow any criminal elements to destroy the future of the younger generation and that those involved in the drug trade would be brought to justice under the law.
