ISLAMABAD The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration urged motorists to install M-Tag as the authorities have been given a 15-day extension for installing M-Tags on vehicles, moving the final deadline to January 15.The district administration announced that the decision was taken on the directions of the interior minister after a surge of citizens at M-Tag centres across Islamabad. Authorities said the extension aims to provide relief to vehicle owners who were unable to complete the process due to long queues and limited service capacity. The deputy commissioner urged citizens to use the extended period and ensure that all vehicles are fitted with M-Tags before the new deadline.Officials made it clear that after 15 January, vehicles without M-Tags will not be allowed to enter Islamabad. The restriction will apply at all entry points of the federal capital. Enforcement teams will be deployed to ensure compliance, and vehicles without the required tag may face action under the law.Authorities said additional counters and staff will also be arranged where needed to speed up the process. Citizens have been advised to avoid waiting until the last days of the extension and to visit centres during working hours to complete registration smoothly. The administration emphasized that the M-Tag system is meant to regulate vehicle entry and improve traffic management in the capital. Officials said cooperation from the public is essential for the system to function effectively. The deputy commissioner appealed to citizens to install M-Tags on their vehicles to avoid legal issues and inconvenience. He said failure to comply after 15 January could lead to denial of entry into the city and possible penalties.Citizens were also advised to keep required documents ready before visiting M-Tag centres to reduce processing time. These include vehicle registration papers and identity documents. The district administration reiterated that the 15-day extension is final and urged vehicle owners to take advantage of the additional time.
