Lahore:IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office, during which a comprehensive review was conducted of overall security, human resources, logistics, transport, and other operational matters concerning the riverine check posts across the province. During the meeting, IG Punjab reviewed the overall performance of officers and personnel posted at riverine check posts, as well as the availability and functionality of boats, vehicles, weapons, and ammunition. In addition, the infrastructure of the riverine check posts, boundary walls, outposts, thermal imaging, and bulletproof cameras were also examined.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued instructions to further improve crime control, arrest of wanted criminals and drug traffickers, the prevention of smuggling, and effective monitoring in border areas through riverine check posts. He said that, considering the sensitivity of border areas, security at riverine check posts should be further enhanced. IG Punjab clarified that boats, vehicles, and cameras at the check posts must remain functional at all times, while buildings requiring repair should be reconstructed, outposts strengthened, and outer walls doubled. He emphasized that patrolling through riverine check posts must be effective, purposeful, and result-oriented. Dr. Usman Anwar ordered that the situation of riverine check posts be improved within 15 days, followed by inspection. He also instructed AIG Operations to submit daily performance reports of riverine check posts.IG Punjab appreciated and commended the performance of the relevant DPOs for the improved situation at the riverine check posts established in Mianwali, Bhakkar, Attock, and Muzaffargarh. The meeting was attended via video link by Additional IG South Punjab, CPO Rawalpindi, RPO Dera Ghazi Khan, RPO Bahawalpur, and the concerned DPOs, while Additional IG Operations Punjab, DIG R&D, AIG Operations, AIG Logistics, and AIG Development were present in the meeting.
