354 ICT Police officers trained at Capital Police College as 82 complete specialised courses

ISLAMABAD:The Capital Police College Islamabad continued to strengthen the professional skills of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, where a total of 354 officers completed different training courses during 2024–25, including 82 officers who finished specialised courses this year.A police spokesperson told dateline on Thursday that the college is working under the vision of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who has emphasised modern and high-quality training for the police force.He said the Capital Police College, established in 1981 and upgraded to a full training college in October 2022, plays a central role in improving discipline, professionalism and operational skills of police officers.
Training Achievements
According to the details:
• 272 officers completed different courses during 2024–25
• 82 officers completed specialised courses during 2025
• Since 1981, a total of 21,548 police officers have received training from the college
• These include 14,528 officers from 40 basic recruit courses, 3,747 from 23 lower school courses, and 2,003 from 14 intermediate courses
He added that the college offers a wide variety of courses, including counter-terrorism, cybercrime, investigation, leadership, human rights, international law, weapon handling and short refresher programmes.
Modern Facilities
The spokesperson said the Capital Police College has:
• Two modern smart classrooms and eleven standard classrooms
• Capacity to train 400 officers at the same time
• Computer lab, seminar hall and indoor training facilities
• Firing range, sports grounds and physical training areas
• Library and e-library for officers
• Hostels with capacity for 416 trainees, along with mess, canteen and regimental store
Professional Development
He said regular drill sessions, weapon handling practice, physical fitness training and lectures by senior police officers and legal experts are part of the curriculum.
The spokesperson added that the college team—under Commandant Malik Jameel Zafar and Director Special Initiatives Shams-ul-Haq Durrani—is committed to shaping a modern, skilled and disciplined police force.
He said the Capital Police College is not only training today’s officers but also preparing future generations of a well-trained and professional ICT Police force.
