Gujranwala :Anti-Corruption has arrested the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation Mandi Bahauddin after corruption worth Rs 18.7 million was proven in 8 development projects. This action was taken under the supervision of Divisional Director Anti-Corruption Gujranwala Amjad Shahzad. It has been reported that under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer of Mandi Bahauddin, 8 development projects worth Rs 36 million, including paved drains, tuff tile streets and sewerage rehabilitation, were completed in which substandard materials were used. However, during the inquiry, corruption worth more than Rs 18.7 million was proven, in which the Anti-Corruption registered a case against the Chief Officer of the Municipal Corporation Mandi Bahauddin Ahmed Waqar Shahid and arrested him. It may be recalled that the Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Waqar Shahid was posted in Hafizabad at that time. Assistant Director Anti-Corruption Rana Shabbir Ashraf said that the arrests were made for corruption in various construction works between 2022 and 2025, while the role of Shahid Abbas and Nazir Ahmed, senior clerks of the Municipal Corporation, will be determined during the investigation.
