ISLAMABAD, :Islamabad received heavy rainfall on Wednesday, prompting immediate response from the city administration to prevent urban flooding and traffic disruption. The spokesman of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration said that the drainage operations were carried out across the capital, and officials confirmed that no major traffic issues were reported.Several areas of Islamabad experienced heavy downpour during the day, which raised concerns over possible waterlogging and traffic disruptions. However, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration responded promptly by deploying teams to ensure timely drainage in key areas, he added. In this regard, assistant commissioners visited multiple localities to oversee the drainage process. Their field inspections focused on low-lying and flood-prone zones, where water levels were closely monitored throughout the day.According to Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, drainage work was completed on time in most areas. “There were no reports of traffic jams on any major roads due to water accumulation,” he said. He added that officers remained on duty throughout the rainfall to manage the situation and ensure smooth vehicular movement. The administration also responded to public complaints from rural zones, where water had reportedly accumulated in some spots. Officials were dispatched to such locations, and the issue was resolved promptly, the DC said.Teams from the Municipal Corporation Islamabad and other concerned departments were also involved in the operation. They worked to clear clogged drains and remove standing water from roads and streets, especially in areas known to face such issues during rain.Flood-like conditions were observed on some roads earlier in the day but were brought under control after coordinated efforts by the local administration. Machinery and field staff were deployed to these locations to drain the water and restore normal conditions.
