ISLAMABAD, : The National Highways and Motorway Police has returned over Rs7.4 million to passengers as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown against overcharging and overloading, initiated on the directions of Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry.According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, the special campaign launched on March 15 has led to the recovery and return of excess fares to commuters at various locations across the country. The initiative aims to ensure passenger rights and provide safe and fair travel facilities, particularly ahead of the Eid season.The spokesperson further said that citizens can lodge complaints directly with Motorway Police officers, through helpline 130, or via social media handle @NHMP for prompt redressal.He added that, in line with austerity and fuel conservation measures introduced from March 12, over 58,000 vehicles have been fined so far for violating the newly enforced speed limits. Awareness regarding revised speed limits and road safety measures is also being disseminated at toll plazas nationwide to ensure compliance and reduce road accidents.
