ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent (Türk Kizilay), organised a blood donation drive on Thursday here at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye.Diplomats, staff, and humanitarian officials participated to support patients in need and promoted voluntary blood donation amid growing humanitarian challenges.Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Irfan Neziroglu, led the initiative by donating blood alongside embassy officials, signalling solidarity with vulnerable communities and reinforcing bilateral humanitarian cooperation. The event was attended by PRCS Chairperson Farzhana Naek, Turkish Red Crescent Head of Delegation in Pakistan Beyza Taner, and officials from both organisations, highlighting the longstanding partnership between the two national societies.Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Neziroglu lauded PRCS efforts in advancing voluntary blood donation and addressed urgent healthcare needs, noting that collective humanitarian action was critical in the current environment. He emphasised that supporting each another in difficult times was both a moral and religious duty, adding that blood donation remained one of the most impactful ways to save lives.Ms Naek thanked the ambassador and embassy staff for their participation, describing the drive as a meaningful humanitarian gesture. She underscored that a single unit of donated blood could save multiple lives, stressing the need for sustained collaboration to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply. The PRCS reaffirmed its commitment to expanding voluntary blood donation initiatives and strengthening partnerships aimed at enhancing lifesaving services and community wellbeing nationwide.
