LAHORE  –  On the occasion of World Health Day, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that under the “Healthy Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, providing the police force and their families with the best medical facilities is a priority mission. A healthy police force can effectively protect the country and nation and confront criminals and anti-state elements. Punjab Police is the only provincial department in the country where health screening of 225,000 officers and personnel has been completed so far. Agreements have been made with the country’s top hospitals to provide free and subsidized medical treatment to police employees and their families. This year, over PKR 51.7 million has been spent on treating personnel and their family members suffering from serious illnesses, while more than PKR 26.7 million have been allocated for children with mental and physical disabilities. IG Punjab further said that under the “Hamaray Phool” project, free cochlear implant surgeries for 44 children with hearing impairment have been completed, costing over PKR 78.3 million. In addition, children affected by thalassemia are being provided PKR 30,000 per month, while those suffering from cerebral palsy receive PKR 20,000 per month each. Funds worth millions of rupees are being provided for the treatment of personnel injured during duty, while the best treatment facilities have been ensured at PKLI for personnel suffering from kidney and liver diseases.
