ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police enhanced security across the federal capital and conducted large-scale grand combing operations, detaining 17 suspicious individuals, along with one vehicle and 36 motorcycles during search operations.An official told dateline on Wednesday that the operations were carried out in the jurisdictions of Tarnol, Khanna, Aabpara, Shams Colony, Sumbal, Sihala and Shahzad Town police stations under the supervision of zonal SPs.He said lady police officials also participated in the operations to ensure effective checking.During the operations, a total of 802 individuals and 406 households were checked.The official said 115 shops and 26 hotels were also inspected during the search.He said 276 motorcycles and 106 vehicles were examined during the drive.
The official said suspects involved in illegal weapons possession were also arrested and two guns along with ammunition were recovered.He said drug peddlers were also apprehended and 333 grams of ice (crystal meth) was recovered from their possession.He said special checking points had been established at entry and exit routes of the city to ensure effective monitoring.All patrolling units and special squads were actively performing duties across the city, he added.Senior officers remained present in the field, reviewing security arrangements and ensuring implementation of measures.The official urged citizens to cooperate with police during checking and report any suspicious activity immediately.
