ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf, on Thursday held a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Farhadov to discuss ongoing collaboration and avenues for further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in urban development and beautification projects.The meeting, held at CDA Headquarters, highlighted the longstanding cultural and historical relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The ambassador noted that Islamabad and Baku were declared sister cities in 2024, paving the way for closer cooperation.
Farhadov said experts from Baku were working with the CDA on various beautification initiatives in the federal capital, including renovation of Saidpur Village, Melody Food Street and 7th Avenue.He added that Azerbaijani horticulture specialists were also supporting the CDA’s Gardenia Hub Model Nursery and remained available for further contributions.The CDA chairman appreciated the role of Baku’s horticulture experts in ongoing projects at Saidpur Model Village, Melody Market and the Gardenia Hub nursery.Sohail Ashraf reaffirmed his commitment to benefiting from Azerbaijan’s expertise and stressed the need to further deepen bilateral relations while exploring new areas of cooperation, including investment opportunities.Both sides also underlined the importance of promoting cultural exchanges, describing the engagement as a step towards strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
