ISLAMABAD,: Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has strongly condemned India’s “false and inhumane narrative” on the completion of one year of the Pahalgam incident, describing it as a false flag operation aimed at maligning Pakistan. In his statement, the Speaker said that holding Pakistan responsible for its own internal failures has remained a consistent pattern of India.
He emphasized that such staged operations reflect a dangerous mindset that exploits the lives of innocent civilians to achieve ulterior motives, posing serious threats to regional and global peace.
Ayaz Sadiq said that India, by using this fabricated incident as a pretext, unilaterally suspended the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty, thereby undermining international law and established norms.
He termed this move as a deliberate act of water aggression against Pakistan, warning that it could have severe implications for the stability, development and prosperity of the entire region.
The Speaker asserted that Pakistan reserves the right to respond decisively to any continued violations of the treaty. He recalled that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had offered an independent and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, a stance that Pakistan continues to uphold.Highlighting the circumstances of the incident, he noted that its occurrence despite heavy security presence in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir raises serious questions and is a matter of concern for India itself.Reiterating Pakistan’s position, the Speaker affirmed that while Pakistan remains committed to peace, it is fully prepared to defend itself against any form of aggression. He also referred to the events of May 9, 2025, saying that Pakistan’s armed forces responded effectively to Indian’s aggression.Ayaz Sadiq paid rich tribute to the professionalism, dedication and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, acknowledging their vital role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and security.
