ISLAMABAD:Islamabad’s district administration carried out a citywide anti-encroachment campaign, leading to 51 arrests and the seizure of 15 vehicles during recent operations.According to the spokesman of ICT administration, the authority also removed illegal parking setups, cleared green belts, and sealed multiple businesses as part of daily enforcement measures.He said the district administration of Islamabad has continued its anti-encroachment campaign across different areas of the city. Assistant Commissioners led operations in several sectors to remove illegal structures, clear public spaces, and take action against violations.During the campaign, illegal car parking established on the green belt along the Expressway was removed. Officials shifted 15 vehicles to a police station. A case was also registered against individuals involved in setting up the parking area on public land.In Sector G-9, teams removed temporary encroachments set up on green belts. These structures were cleared to restore public access and ensure that the area remains open for general use.In Sector G-12, action was taken against encroachments on the service road. Authorities arrested seven individuals involved in setting up these structures. The operation aimed to ensure smooth traffic flow and remove obstructions from key roads.
In Bara Kahu, enforcement teams carried out a large-scale operation. During this action, 15 individuals were arrested, and several encroachments were demolished. Officials said the structures were built without permission and were blocking public pathways.Assistant Commissioners also removed 18 illegal boards and other items installed without approval. These items were taken away during the operations to clear public spaces and enforce regulations on advertisements and signage.On Srinagar Highway, illegal boards placed on green belts were removed. Authorities said such installations not only violate rules but also affect the use of public land meant for greenery and open space.At Golra Mor, officials sealed five restaurants found to be involved in encroachments. These establishments had extended their setups beyond permitted limits. In a separate action, permanent encroachments inside a private restaurant were also demolished.In Shah Allah Ditta, nine individuals were arrested for their involvement in illegal construction activities. Authorities stated that these constructions were carried out without approval and did not meet legal requirements.The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has directed all Assistant Commissioners to continue these operations on a daily basis. The aim is to ensure that public spaces remain clear and that encroachments do not reappear after removal.
