ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The 74th death anniversary of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah observed with due solemnity on Sunday, with the pledges to follow his golden principles of “unity, faith and discipline.”
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques and other worship places for eternal peace of the departed soul and for peace and prosperity of the country.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah served as leader of All-India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan’s creation on August 14, 1947. He passed away on this day in 1948 shortly after achieving freedom for the nation.
Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television broadcasted special programmes on Sunday to pay tribute to Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for his unmatched services for freedom of Pakistan.
President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have called for adherence to the golden principles of unity, faith and discipline as manifested by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to fight the challenges faced by the country.
In their separate messages on the occasion of 74th death anniversary of the father of the Nation, they said the entire nation pays homage to the Quaid’s tireless struggle and visionary leadership in the fight for rights of Muslims of the subcontinent.
The Prime Minister, in a series of tweets on Sunday, said by dint of our strong faith, unity and brotherhood, we will bring such discipline in our ranks that will help us achieve the goal of a great Pakistan by overcoming all the challenges. He said this path is difficult, but the destination is not impossible at all.
“The entire nation pays homage to the Quaid-i-Azam for his tireless struggle, foresight and leadership skills in the fight for the rights of the Muslims of the subcontinent,” he said on Twitter.
The premier said: “Without the leadership of the Quaid-i-Azam, the dream of an independent state for Muslims would never have been realised.” He furthered that the nation needs to adhere to the father of the nation’s timeless principles of “faith, unity and organisation” to face the challenges facing Pakistan today. PM Shehbaz Sharif maintained that he has full confidence that “we will soon achieve the goal of a great Pakistan by overcoming all the challenges with the strength of our faith, unity and brotherhood.”
