KARACHI: Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has claimed if local elections are held in the Karachi division on time, there will be administrative problems.
He said division-wise elections will be held in the Sindh province. “The purpose of conducting phased elections is to monitor the elections properly’, he added.
Nasir Hussain Shah said that PPP wants elections to be held on time, especially the candidates from Karachi who insisted that elections should not be postponed. Only the Pakistan People’s Party and Jamaat-e-Islami wanted the local elections to be held on time, the minister said.
However, the Election Commission of Pakistan rescheduled the second phase of the Sindh local government elections due to torrential rains and ravaging floods in the province, he added. In the four divisions where the elections were held, PPP won ninety percent of the total seats, he added. PTI, GDA, and others did not give even tickets to their candidates in the four divisions anticipating a certain defeat in hands of PPP, he added.
“PPP will contest the local government elections in Karachi with full force, he added. Last time, the local bodies’ elections were postponed due to it rain in the provincial capital city and there are still some concerns, Nasir Shah said, adding that “I personally understand that there is no problem if the elections are held”.
The minister said the audio leak is a tragedy. Khan Sahib’s demand for elections in the whole country in the current situation is not just. Imran Khan has lost his balance after being separated from power, he added.
