LAHORE: The celebrations in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) camp are in full swing as unofficial results in the by-election on eight constituencies of the National Assembly and three constituencies of the Punjab Assembly, show PTI under the leadership of former prime minister Imran Khan swept the by-elections with the vote of the people.
According to the preliminary, unofficial results, the former PM-led PTI bagged five NA seats and two Punjab Assembly seat, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) could only secure one seat of the provincial assembly and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also secured one NA seat.
By-elections were held in 3 provinces, 3 seats in the National Assembly and 3 seats in the Provincial Assembly are vacant in Punjab, while elections will be held for 3 seats of National Assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and candidates will compete for 2 seats in the National Assembly in Sindh.The constituencies of the National Assembly where the by-elections are being held are: Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Malir, Korangi, and Multan, while the Punjab Assembly s constituencies are: Sheikhupura, Khanewal, and Bahawalnagar.A total of 101 candidates of various political parties, including independent candidates, participated in the elections, 52 in Punjab, 33 in Sindh and 16 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and about 4.5 voters were registered in these constituencies. In Punjab, 1,434 polling stations had been being established, 979 in KP and 340 in Karachi.
NA-22 Mardan II
According to unofficial results, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Imran Khan won by-election for NA-22 by obtaining 76,681 vote,and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Moulana Muhammad Qasim could only secured 68,181 votes.
NA-24 Charsadda II
According to unofficial results, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate candidate Imran Khan has won the by-election for NA-24 by obtaining 78,589 vote ,and the Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan could secured 68,356.
NA-31 Peshawar V
According to unofficial results, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Imran Khan won by-election for NA-31 Peshawar V by obtaining 59,972 vote and Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Ghulam Ahmed Bilor could secure 34,724 votes.
NA-108 Faisalabad VIII
According to unofficial results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Imran Khan won NA-108 by-election by obtaining 99,841 vote, while Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) candidate Abid Sher Ali could secure 75,266 votes.
NA-118 Nankana Sahib II
According to unofficial results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Imran Khan won NA-118 Nankana Sahib by-poll by obtaining 90,180 vote, while Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) candidate Shazra Mansab Kharal secured 78,024 votes.
NA-237 Malir II
According to unofficial results, Pakistan Peiople’s Party (PPP) candidate Abdul Hakim Baloch won NA-237 Malir by-election by obtaining 32,567 vote, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Imran Khan who has secured 22,493.
