11,873 vehicles using LEDs were fined during the ongoing year

ISLAMABAD: Following the special directions of IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, Islamabad Capital Police has decided to take strict action against those involved in using high beam lights and Light emitting diodes.
Following these directions,11,873 vehicles using LEDs lights were fined during the ongoing year. SSP Traffic said that a decision has been made to ensure a safe road environment in the city and avoid accidents.
Special squads have been constituted in order to take stern action against vehicles using LED/HID lights. While police pickets would be erected at important boulevards of the city including Expressway, Srinagar highway , Margalla Road, IJP road, Murree Road, 7th Avenue and 9th avenue.
Shift in-charges will lead this campaign, while the education wing will educate people about risks involved in using these lights. Islamabad capital police FM Radio 92.4 is also airing special programs about the disadvantages of using these lights.
SSP Traffic Islamabad has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with police so that a safe road environment can be ensured in the city.
