ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board, led by Chairman Captain Noorul Ameen Mengal, Saturday approved several crucial development projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and facilities in Islamabad. The decisions made during the meeting highlight the board’s commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and fostering economic growth in the region.
One of the key decisions made was the establishment of the CDA Capital Medical College in Islamabad. The Chairman directed the Planning and Estate Members to identify a suitable location for the medical college. This move aims to address the growing demand for quality medical education and healthcare services in the city. Sources said suggestion for the establishment of medical college was floated by Director General Health and Human Executive Director CDA Hospital, Dr Fazle Mola to make hospital financially viable in future. College will lessen burden on CDA exchequer. Due to personal efforts of Dr.Fazle Mola, PMDC Registrar also especially invited to brief the board. After PMDC Registrar’s briefing on technical aspects, the project principally sailed through. Chairman hailed the keen interest of ED CDA hospital in the project.
Furthermore, the board approved the allocation of a designated area in Kohat Triangle for the construction of a Fire Brigade and Dispensary. Additionally, plans were made for the development of the Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Association in the same area. These initiatives reflect the board’s focus on public safety and promoting commercial growth in the region.
The meeting also endorsed the establishment of additional filtration plants in various commercial centers of Islamabad. The CDA will be responsible for their construction, while the local business community will oversee their maintenance. This decision aims to improve the city’s environmental sustainability and ensure clean and healthy surroundings for residents and visitors.
The board meeting also approved the provision of land for the FBR Academy, which will contribute to the development of educational infrastructure in Islamabad. Moreover, the layout plan for Sector C-13 was sanctioned, and a committee comprising officials from the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), CDA, and Cantonment Board was formed to address residential and commercial building matters along the boundaries of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
In addition to the above, the CDA Board meeting resulted in the creation of new positions for three directors within the CD Planning Wing, further strengthening the organization’s planning and development capabilities.
Lastly, the establishment of an Archery Club in F-9 Park, Islamabad, was approved during the meeting. This decision aims to promote sports and recreational activities in the city, catering to the diverse interests of its residents.
