IG Punjab Takes Firm Stand Against Organized Crime

LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, made a significant visit to the Organized Crime Unit Headquarters in Township, Lahore Wednesday.

During the visit, DIG Organized Crime Unit, Captain Retired Liaqat Ali Malik, provided a detailed briefing on measures taken to combat drug trafficking, emphasizing the use of drone cameras for surveillance.

In a decisive move, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued direct orders to intensify crackdowns against dangerous criminals involved in heinous offenses such as drug dealing, professional shooting, extortion, and land grabbing. Intelligence-based combing operations have been mandated on a daily basis to eradicate organized crime effectively.

Dr. Usman Anwar stressed the need for seamless integration of modern technologies, particularly drone cameras, in anti-crime operations. He directed law enforcement to expedite targeted operations to eliminate habitual and professional criminals, asserting that anti-crime efforts should remain uninterrupted.

In a hands-on approach, Dr. Usman Anwar instructed DIG Organized Crime Unit, Captain Retired Liaqat Ali Malik, to personally oversee intelligence-based operations targeting high-profile criminals. Full coordination among law enforcement officers was emphasized to ensure the success of these operations.

The visit saw the presence of key figures including SSP Operations Lahore Syed Ali Raza, SSP Nida Umar Chatta, SP Furqan Bilal, SP Aftab Ahmed Phalrawan, SP Imran Karamat Bukhari, underlining the collaborative effort to tackle and eliminate organized crime in the region.

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts of law enforcement authorities in Punjab to curb organized crime, reflecting a commitment to utilizing both traditional and cutting-edge methods for a safer community
