RAWALPINDI: In a significant diplomatic move, the Foreign Minister of Iran, Amir Abdollahian, met with Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir at GHQ Monday. Recognizing the historical, ISPR statement said religious, and cultural ties binding the two nations, both sides emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance understanding of each other’s concerns.

COAS underscored the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, deeming it sacrosanct for state-to-state relationships. The discussions highlighted the shared threat of terrorism, prompting a commitment to collaborative efforts, improved coordination, and intelligence sharing. COAS stressed the necessity of sustained engagement and effective communication channels to address security concerns.

A pivotal agreement was reached to operationalize the deployment of military liaison officers in each other’s countries, aiming to enhance coordination and response efficiency against common threats. Both nations reaffirmed their dedication to close engagement, vowing not to allow external forces to undermine the strong ties between the two brotherly nations.

The leaders of Pakistan and Iran reiterated their joint commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the border region, recognizing it as crucial for the well-being of people on both sides. The destiny of these fraternal neighbors remains intertwined as they strive for a harmonious future.
