Lahjore:IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that maintaining law and order and ensuring best service delivery are among the top priorities, while combating terrorism and organized crime remain the most critical challenges. He added that the Crime Control Department (CCD), along with district police and other operational units, is achieving its targets through coordinated strategies and joint efforts. Since the establishment of the CCD, a noticeable reduction in crime has been recorded across Lahore and the wider province.Additional IG Sohail Zafar Chattha briefed the probationary ASPs on the objectives, human resource structure, operational methods, and achievements of the CCD. He described the department as a specialized unit of highly professional, experienced, and crime-fighting officers within Punjab Police. Under the Safe Punjab vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the department is playing a pivotal role in combating serious crimes.CCD has been equipped with a centralized criminal database, advanced surveillance and monitoring systems, and modern technology and equipment. Additional IG further said that crackdown against habitual criminals involved in dacoities, street crimes, and drug trafficking is one of the department’s key responsibilities. Targeting heinous crimes such as murder and rape during robberies, extortion, vehicle theft, and eradicating interprovincial gangs also remain top operational priorities.
