The investigation into the death of Islamabad Police SP Adeel Akbar has concluded, with the inquiry committee ruling out the possibility of suicide, according to official sources.

No evidence found of suicide

Statements of staff, psychologist recorded
The committee recorded the statements of SP Adeel Akbar’s wireless operator, driver, and other staff members who were present or associated with him on the day of the incident. The psychologist who had been treating SP Adeel was also questioned as part of the investigation.Sources revealed that SP Adeel had visited his doctor twice prior to his death, and his mental health status was among the factors examined during the probe. However, the committee concluded there was no indication of suicidal intent based on available evidence and testimonies.SP Adeel Akbar, who was serving as SP Industrial Area Islamabad, was found dead from a gunshot wound while on duty on October 23. The incident initially sparked widespread speculation that the officer had committed suicide, prompting the Islamabad Police to form an inquiry committee to establish the facts.The committee’s investigation, which included forensic and medical reviews, has now ruled out suicide as the cause of death, shifting the focus to alternative causes or possible foul play.
Report submission and next steps
Sources said that the committee’s findings will be officially handed over to Islamabad IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi, who will then forward the report to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for review and recommendations.
