Gas theft crackdown: 144 more gas connections disconnected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad

Islamabad (Staff Reporter) During the ongoing crackdown against gas theft in various areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad under Sui Northern, 144 more gas connections were disconnected, 333 under-billing cases were processed. Additional penalties have been imposed. Sui Northern Gas disconnected 07 domestic connections for illegal use of gas and 04 connections for using compressors in Lahore. In Bahawalpur, the regional team disconnected 05 gas connections due to the use of compressors, while fines of Rs. 1 lakh 98 thousand were imposed for under-billing. In Multan, the regional team disconnected 15 gas connections due to illegal use and 02 connections due to use of compressors, while 07 under-billing cases were processed. Fines of 44 thousand rupees were imposed for under-billing. In Sheikhupura, the regional team disconnected 18 gas connections for illegal use, while 68 under-billing cases were processed. Fines of Rs. 5,000 were imposed on those involved in gas theft, while fines of more than Rs. 30,000 were imposed for under-billing. 51 connections were disconnected by Sui Northern Gas in Peshawar for tampering with meters, direct use of gas, illegal connections, while 1 FIR was also registered in the concerned police station. Fines of 06 lakh were imposed on those involved in gas theft. . In Rawalpindi, the regional team took action and disconnected 03 connections due to illegal use of gas. In Mardan, 100 under-billing cases were processed while 06 connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas. The regional team imposed a fine of more than 6 lakhs for under-billing. In Abbottabad, the regional team disconnected 03 connections for illegal use of gas. In Gujranwala, the regional team took action and disconnected 03 meters for illegal use and 04 meters for using compressors. Fines of 1 lakh 65 thousand were imposed on those involved in gas theft, while fines of more than 2 lakh were imposed for under-billing. Regional team in Sialkot. Taking action, 02 meters were disconnected on the use of compressor. In federal capital Islamabad, 12 connections were disconnected due to illegal use of gas. In Sahiwal, 03 gas connections were disconnected due to illegal use of gas, while 01 connection was disconnected due to use of compressor. Fines of 33,000 were imposed on those involved in theft. In Faisalabad, the regional team disconnected 04 meters for meter tampering, 01 for use of compressor and processed 24 under-billing cases. Fines of 5,86,000 were imposed on those involved in gas theft. .
Additionally, a UFG task force team raided a plastic bag manufacturing unit located on Charsadda Road in Peshawar and caught a gas theft case red-handed. The consumer was illegally consuming gas from a household meter installed in reverse direction and was using gas for commercial purposes in the manufacture of plastic bags. The team disconnected the domestic meter on the spot.
