ISLAMABAD, Nov 08 (NNI): The Interior Ministery on Tuesday directed the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments to take action against blocking roads in protests against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supremo Imran Khan’s assassination bid during the long march in Wazirabad.
In a letter sent to the Punjab chief secretary, the ministry stated that all citizens have the basic right of free movement in the province, but due to ongoing protests, citizens are facing hurdles. The Punjab government should take such measures so that citizens can continue to move without fear, it added.
It further stated that the Punjab and KP provinces have a constitutional responsibility to maintain law and order, while the provincial governments have failed to fulfil their constitutional role by not removing the protesters.
The Ministry of Interior has asked both provinces to intervene and open the roads. NNI
