ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from Turkmenistan, led by State Minister and Chairman of Turkmengas Mr. Maksat Babayev, met with a Pakistani delegation headed by Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik Wednesday. The primary focus of the meeting was the flagship Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

During the discussions, Minister Malik reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the TAPI project and emphasized the significant energy potential that Turkmenistan holds. He emphasized that TAPI is not just a pipeline but a transformation agenda for the entire region.

Both sides agreed to appoint a high-level official from Pakistan to address any outstanding issues related to the project. The technical working group dedicated to TAPI will hold extensive meetings today to further progress the initiative.

The Turkmen delegation expressed their gratitude for the support and cooperation extended by the Pakistani government regarding TAPI. Key members of the Turkmenistan delegation included Deputy Minister of Energy Mr. Annageldi Saparov, CEO and Chairman of the Board of TPCL Mr. Muhammetmyrat Amanov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov, and TPCL’s Pakistan Branch Manager Mr. Myrat Bayramov.

The Pakistani delegation comprised additional secretaries Mr. Abrar Ahmed Mirza and Mr. Hassan Iqbal, as well as the Managing Director of Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS) Mr. Nadeem Bajwa, along with other officials from the Petroleum Division.

The TAPI gas pipeline project holds immense potential for transforming the region’s energy landscape, and both Turkmenistan and Pakistan are committed to its successful implementation
