ISLAMABAD: In a significant move aimed at enhancing the quality of sanitation services in previously neglected rural areas, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated the outsourcing of cleanliness services. This step marks the first time the CDA will provide cleanliness services in these unattended areas, resulting in a substantial improvement in sanitation standards.
The targeted areas for the introduction of sanitation services include slums, densely populated suburbs, and rural regions surrounding the city. To ensure an efficient and streamlined cleanliness system, the unattended areas have been divided into two packages.
Package-I encompasses 36 areas, with an estimated population of approximately 200,000 individuals. It includes Muslim Colony (Bari Imam), Nur Pur Shahan, Malpur, Shahdara, Mandla, Kot Hathial, Rakh Bani Gala, Lakhawal, Phul Garan, Ghora baz, Tumair, Lehtrar Road, and other regions.
Similarly, Package-II includes areas such as Badia Rustam Khan, Badia Qadir Bakhsh, Mera Sumbul Jaffar, Nathiyan / H-13 / H-14, Jhangi Syedan / H-15, Mera Sumbul Akku, Gulshan e Khudadad, Bhadana Kalan, Noon, Pind Parian, Sara e Kharboza, Tarnol, Sangjani, Sara e Madu, Shah Allah Dita, Pind Sanghrial, Mera Bheri, Bekar Fateh Bakhsh, F-12, Daraik Mori, G.T Road, and adjoining roads, encompassing a total population of 260,000 residents.
Among the five pre-qualified firms, three firms submitted financial bids for Package-I, while four firms participated in Package-II.
For Package-I, M/s Amjad Ali submitted a bid of Rs. 5,979/- per ton, the joint venture (JV) comprising M/s NJS, M.s NCS, and M/s Maqsood & Sons submitted a bid of Rs. 7,150/- per ton, and the JV consisting of Daiwoo, GHS, and Waste Busters submitted a bid of Rs. 7,839/- per ton.
For Package-II, M/s Amjad Ali submitted a bid of Rs. 3,636/- per ton, the JV comprising M/s NJS, M.s NCS, and M/s Maqsood & Sons submitted a bid of Rs. 4,190/- per ton, M/s Babar & Co. submitted a bid of Rs. 4,975/- per ton, and the JV consisting of Daiwoo, GHS, and Waste Busters submitted a bid of Rs. 7,096/- per ton.
Following the evaluation process, the contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder in both packages, which, in this case, is M/s Amjad Ali.
This initiative by the CDA is expected to greatly enhance cleanliness services in the previously unattended rural areas of Islamabad, ensuring a healthier and more hygienic living environment for the residents.
