RAWALPINDI: Inter Services Public Rejations (ISPR) said two civilians embraced martyrdom on Saturday while another was “critically injured” as the Indian Army opened “indiscriminate fire” at a group of shepherds at the Line of Control (LoC) Satwal Sector.
The victims have been identified as Obaid Qayyum, 22 years old, and Muhammad Qasim, 55 years old, both residents of Village Bara Dari Tetrinote in Tehsil Hajira, District Poonch. They were among a group of shepherds who came under indiscriminate fire by the Indian Army at approximately 11:55 hours.
The ISPR has strongly condemned the Indian Army’s actions, describing it as a continuation of their inhumane approach towards innocent Kashmiris. The statement also suggests that the Indian forces, driven by a newfound geopolitical agenda, are deliberately targeting civilians in an attempt to advance their false narratives and baseless allegations.
Pakistan has launched a formal protest with the Indian side, emphasizing the need to respect the basic human rights of Kashmiris, especially their right to cultivate their lands. Furthermore, Pakistan has asserted its right to respond in a manner of its choosing to protect the lives of Kashmiris in the Line of Control (LOC) region.
The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions and volatility in the region, where innocent lives continue to be lost due to cross-border hostilities. The international community is urged to take notice of these violations and play a constructive role in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute
