ISLAMABAD: In a stunning revelation, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) finds itself embroiled in a massive scandal involving fraudulent land allotments and acquisitions in posh Sector E-11, totaling more than ten billion rupees. The scandal has led to the removal of several high-ranking officials, including the Director, Assistant Director Land, and others.
Sidra Anwar, who served as Director Land for three years on deputation, has been removed of his duties and transferred back to the Establishment Division. This decision was made with the approval of the Election Commission. Sources said she was believed to be a main character behind this multi-billion land scam.
Sources confided that there appear to be efforts to shield Sidra Anwar and Member Estate Afnan Alam from any inquiry or punishment.
The scandal, involving the possible use of a high-ranking intelligence officer’s name in transactions, may trigger an investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other investigative agencies.
Irregular Land Allotments: Prior to this scandal, Sidra Anwar was allegedly involved in irregular land allotments, bypassing E-auction procedures by NADRA to favor certain individuals. No action was taken in this regard due to the influence of Member Estate Afnan Alam.
Assistant Director Land and Junior Assistant are also said to be involved in the scandal, specifically related to fraudulent activities surrounding a seven-kilometer plot allotment in Sector E 11 of Islamabad.
It has been revealed that officers from higher investigative agencies exerted undue pressure on Director Land Sada Anwar for plot allotments, leading to the cancellation of these allotments based on directives from the CDA Chairman.
This multi-billion rupee scandal has sent shockwaves through Islamabad’s CDA, transforming it from a developmental institution into a hub of controversy. As investigations unfold, the question of who else might be implicated and the extent of the wrongdoing remains to be seen.
