Lahore (Staff Reporter) Sui Northern continued its crackdown against gas theft and conducted successful raids in various areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. A total of 20 connections were disconnected for direct use of gas, illegal connections in Peshawar and two FIRs were registered for gas theft. In Rawalpindi, a total of 12 connections were disconnected for direct gas consumption and installation of compressors. Six gas connections were disconnected in Mardan for installation of fake meters and commercial use of domestic connections. 21 gas connections were disconnected in Sialkot for illegal use of gas. In Sargodha, 17 connections were disconnected for tampering with gas meters and 10 for illegal use. In Gujranwala, the regional team disconnected 30 gas connections while taking action. Gas connections of 13 consumers were disconnected during operations in Gujarat on illegal use of gas. 08 connections were disconnected due to direct use of gas in the federal capital Islamabad. A total of 22 connections were disconnected in Sahiwal for use of compressors while one for illegal connections and meter tampering. The regional team in Faisalabad severed 44 connections during the crackdown. In Lahore, two connections were disconnected for use of compressors, 34 for tampering with meters and six for illegal use of gas. In Bahawalpur, the regional team disconnected 31 gas connections while taking action. Regional team disconnected 22 gas connections in Multan. Apart from two consumers using compressors, 11 gas connections were disconnected in Sheikhupura. According to the spokesman of Sui Northern Gas, action is being taken as per the law to measure the volume of stolen gas while applications have been submitted to the concerned police stations for registration of FIR against the persons involved in gas theft.
