ISLAMABAD: In a 261st Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) led by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army top brass has reiterated its commitment to providing necessary support to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the upcoming February 8 general elections. The military’s top leadership vows to offer all “requisite and necessary support” in ensuring the electoral process’s integrity and success.
During the two-day conference held at GHQ, participants paid tribute to the sacrifices of Shuhadas, honoring those who laid down their lives for peace and stability. The forum expressed solidarity with Palestine, condemning human rights violations in Gaza and advocating for an immediate ceasefire.
The Army emphasized its dedication to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty against all threats, pledging to address terrorists and their facilitators aiming to destabilize the country. Additionally, the military highlighted its support for socioeconomic growth, foreign investment, and efforts against illegal economic activities.
Concerns were raised regarding human rights violations in IIOJK, with condemnation of acts by the Indian military. The forum pledged ongoing political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, in line with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions.
A briefing on the geo-strategic environment outlined challenges to national security, emphasizing serious concerns about sanctuaries for proscribed groups in a neighboring country and the availability of advanced weapons to terrorists. The forum stressed the importance of operational preparedness, maintaining excellence in both cognitive and physical realms, and upholding high standards of motivation and training.
