ISLAMABAD: Despite Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) clear directives, the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation Authority (FGEHFA) finds itself entangled in a longstanding dispute over possession in G-14 Sector, leaving affected residents in limbo even after 20 years.
Last year’s court ruling seemed to set the stage for resolution, but the latest developments reveal that the Land Records Revenue officer and Director Land have failed to comply with the court’s orders.
Sources indicate that Sector G-14, launched by FGEHFA in 2003, has become a focal point of frustration for affected individuals who have been unable to secure possession or compensation for their properties. Rana Munir, Director Land Records Revenue, who has been at the helm for eighteen years, previously served iDC Land Records Revenue. However, his slow-paced approach has hindered the delivery of plots and housing compensation.
Despite protests from the affected individuals and the Islamabad High Court’s intervention, the FGEHFA has yet to fulfill its obligations, leaving many to question the efficacy of the legal system in resolving such disputes.
The affected residents argue that since the project’s inception in 2003, numerous individuals have passed away without witnessing the fulfillment of the court-ordered possession and compensation. Their demand for justice remains steadfast, emphasizing the responsibility of FGEHFA to address their claims.
Notably, the Director of Land Records Revenue, traditionally a Finance Department appointee, is a trained officer who has transitioned from the engineering department of the Federal Employees Housing sector. Despite eighteen years passing, development has been stagnant, and neither possession nor compensation has been provided.
DC Land Revenue Rana Munir, responding to inquiries, expressed willingness to negotiate with affected individuals. An ongoing operation is purportedly underway, with promises that after development, plots and compensation will be allocated.
In the midst of this, questions arise about the position of Director Land Ehsan Elahi, who claims the exchange has occurred. However, ambiguity persists regarding the vacant seat of Director Land in FGEHF, raising concerns about the transparency of the administrative process.
The G-14 Sector saga continues, leaving residents in suspense and raising broader questions about the efficacy of housing management and dispute resolution mechanisms in Pakistan.
