COMSATS – edu authorities signed MoU to equip students with digital skills

ATTOCK: The Attock district administration on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with COMSATS University to equip the students’ of government schools with digital skills. Under the MoU students of 24 different boys’ and girls’ government schools of six different tehsils of the district would impart market based digital skills with certification and accreditation of COMSATS University Attock campus under the chairmanship of the Deputy CommissionerAtockRao Atif Raza.Officials of local administration, education department and other departments were also present on this occasion. The MoU was part of the ‘digital learn and earn’ programme aimed at equipping the male and female students of the schools and woman entrepreneurs with digital skills and e-learning for their empowerment through their digital skills. The MoU was formally signed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) EducationSajida Mukhtar and Prof Dr Muhammad Juniad Mughal (TI) Director COMSATS University Attock campus.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) EducationSajida speaking on this occasion has said that being backward and remote area, the students of the Attock district are deprived of good IT facilities besides training institutions and through this MoU scores of the students would be facilitated through market based digital courses.

Briefing the newsmen over this initiative, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza has said that after inking MoU with various local NGOs, this is second such MoU for this initiative under his revolutionary vision “Learn & Earn” program launched for students of Attock.DC Attock further highlighted that the Learn and Earn IT program has a revolutionary status in the history of the Attock district, enabling students across the district to pursue economic self-sufficiency through freelancing, graphic design, and other related courses. He emphasized that fifty IT labs are currently being upgraded across the district, which will significantly enhance IT education in the area. Mr Raza has informed that more than fifty IT labs of government schools in Attock district have been upgraded with a cost of around 250 million rupees, which is a unique initiative in the history of the district. Responding a question, Mr Raza has said that skill base education is an important need of the district for which the district administration is utilizing all resources.
