Punjab Chief Minister’s directive: Punjab Police intensified crackdown on electricity thieves

On the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police’s uninterrupted crackdown on electricity thieves continues across all districts of the province, including Lahore. In the first six months of this year, 53,918 cases were registered against electricity thieves across the province, with 28,393 suspects arrested. Punjab Police spokesperson said that from January to June, challans were completed in 32,822 cases of electricity theft across the province, and 3853 accused involved in loss to national exchequer were punished and fined. In Lahore, 16,397 cases were registered this year, with 15,835 suspects arrested.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar stated that 660 police personnel in each district are assisting in the ongoing campaign against electricity thieves. Actions are being taken without discrimination against those robbing national resources. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed all supervisory officers in the province to further intensify the crackdown on electricity thieves, ensuring every possible assistance to government institutions in this effort. He emphasized to adopt a zero-tolerance policy and expediting actions without discrimination against those causing loss to the national treasury.
