Lahore:Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, is actively implementing measures to ensure quality medical treatment for children of police employees fighting with Thalassemia. As part of this initiative, third-quarter health allowances have been disbursed for thalassemia-affected children of police employees across various districts, including Lahore.Dr. Usman Anwar said that medical expenses are being covered for 154 children suffering from thalassemia, providing fifteen thousand rupees per month for each child. This amounts to a total of forty-five thousand rupees per child for expenses incurred from July to September, with an overall disbursement of six million nine hundred fifty-three thousand rupees. IG Punjab highlighted that each affected child receives fifteen thousand rupees monthly and one hundred eighty thousand rupees annually. Punjab Police has inked agreements with several institutions and hospitals, including Sundas, Fatimid, and Al-Noor Foundation, to facilitate blood transfusions for these children. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the latest treatment methods and research protocols are being employed for children with thalassemia. He acknowledged that thalassemia presents a significant challenge, but with parental support, it can be overcome. Furthermore, IG Punjab assured that extensive resources are being utilized to help police personnel’s thalassemia-affected children lead normal lives. Continuous support will be provided to ensure these children can continue their education and grow into successful citizens. He encouraged employees to register under the “Hamaray Phool” project to get assistance in the treatment of their children facing medical issues, ensuring they receive comprehensive support for their medical care.
