Punjab Police ensured outstanding welfare measures for Police employees and & Families in 2024

Lahore :In the year 2024, Punjab Police ensured outstanding welfare measures were taken for the force and their families. According to details, over 2.32 billion rupees were spent on the welfare of the police force in 2024. Punjab Police spent 10 million rupees daily on the welfare of officers, personnel, and their families. Punjab Police spokesperson shared that more than 78 crore and 10 lakh rupees were spent on educational scholarships for the children of police employees. A sum of 28 crore and 19 lakh rupees were given as medical grants for employees facing health issues. A total of 59 crore and 51 lakh rupees were paid as wedding gifts to the daughters of police employees. Under the special initiative of IG Punjab, approval was obtained from the Government of Punjab for the purchase of homes for 27 families of police martyrs. Injured personnel, who were wounded while protecting the lives and properties of citizens, were provided with 7 crore 92 lakh rupees for medical treatment. Over 13 crore and 18 lakh rupees were spent for the treatment of disabled and various ailing children of police employees. More than 02 crore rupees were provided as scholarships for children of police employees affected by thalassemia and cerebral palsy. A total of 170 plots were provided to the families of police martyrs who embraced martyrdom before 2017. An amount of 3.6 crore rupees was allocated for the construction of houses for the families of police martyrs on the plots. Funeral expenses amounting to 7 crore and 49 lakh rupees were provided to the families of the force. Police employees were given 29 crore 77 lakh rupees as farewell grants on retirement. An amount of more than 22 crore and 53 lakh rupees were provided to the families of employees as subsistence allowances. Over 3 crore and 39 lakh rupees were provided as emergency aid and legal aid to employees.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the welfare fund and income generated from welfare projects are being utilized to alleviate the financial hardships of employees. He further said that agreements have been made with various hospitals for the best treatment of the force, and with renowned educational institutions for the higher education of children. IG Punjab said that 2024 would be remembered as the year of welfare for police employees.
