Acting on public complaints who were fleeced with exorbitant rates in sheer violation of official price list, the local administration launched crackdown on the poultry items sellers in various markets and bazaars of twin cities of Taxila and Wah and arrested as many as six shopkeepers for selling chicken meat at exorbitant rates and send them behind bars after registration case. Moreover, a fine worth Rs 50 thousand collected from over two dozen shopkeepers for violation of the official price list and warning was issued to them to sell the poultry items at official rates failing which cases would be registered against them. Later officials of local administration, led by assistant commissioner Zaryab Sajid Kamboh held meetings with the local office bearers and apprised them to follow the official price list and avoid fleecing customers with exorbitant rates failing which they would deal with iron hands as per law. Later briefing the newsmen about anti artificial price hike crackdown launched against the poultry item sellers in twin cities of Taxila and Wah assistant commissioner Zaryab Sajid Kamboh has said that authorities issued strict instructions to shopkeepers to ensure compliance with official price lists and warned that profiteering and hoarding would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He hoped that after successful negotiation with the local poultry dealers association, prices would be curtailed in the next few days and the official surprise check would continue to keep an active eye on the violators who would be dealt accordingly. “Crackdowns would be continued to ensure that chicken is sold at the official price and masses are not fleeced with higher rates”. He added.
