Lahore:An important meeting of the Crime Control Department (CCD) was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. Various issues including aim & objectives of Crime Control Department (CCD), human resources and logistics were reviewed in the meeting. Additional IG CCD (CCD) Sohail Zafar Chatha, DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan and senior officers were present in the meeting. IG Punjab said that the Anti-Crime Specialized Unit is the need of the hour to eliminate heinous crimes. Law & order and crime control are the responsibility of DPOs and additional support will be provided to CCD. All units of Punjab Police will work with CCD to ensure the eradication of crimes with full force. Like CTD, Crime Control Department will prove to be a successful and strong wing of Punjab Police. District Police and CCD will provide full support to each other for the establishment of peace and eradication of crimes. In the meeting, all police regions, districts, units and formations vowed to provide full support to Crime Control Department (CCD). Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chatha said that crime fighter police officers are part of Crime Control Department and suppression of organized crime will be their mission. District police officers will be able to transfer important cases to CCD. The accountability and vigilance system of Crime Control Department will be very fast-paced, effective and transparent. DIG Vigilance and Internal Accountability (CCD) will be responsible for the implementation of all SOPs. The names of regional and district officers for the Crime Control Department have been finalized, while a notification will be issued soon after the legal framework. Specialized training of CCD officers and personnel will be conducted on CTD style. Districts will provide elite police, technical and logistics support to CCD for raids. CCD employees will be given salaries and allowances equivalent to those of CTD. Senior officers including DIG Telecommunication Imran Ahmar, SSP CTD Omar Salamat, SSP Telecommunication Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia, DPO Hafizabad Atif Nazir and AIG Logistics Muhammad Abdullah Luck were present on the spot, while Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs attended the meeting through video link.
