Lahore:In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha, Punjab Police is actively pursuing operations against organized gangs across the province. As part of this effort, 18 members of 7 gangs were arrested within the past 24 hours.From the possession of the accused, 80 weapons, including Kalashnikovs, pistols, rifles, revolvers, and shotguns, as well as hundreds of bullets were recovered. Additionally, 35 motorcycles, 20 mobile phones, 14 livestock animals, 4 tolas of gold, and 2 million rupees in cash were also recovered.
Punjab Police Spokesperson further shared that during the first five months of the current year, 6,167 members of 2,522 gangs have been arrested. From their possession, 837 Kalashnikovs, 17,287 pistols, 1,530 rifles, 1,632 shotguns, 251 revolvers, and over 146,000 bullets have been recovered.
Furthermore, 7,495 motorcycles, 488 vehicles, 3,315 mobile phones, 560 tolas of gold, 1,581 livestock animals, and over 2 billion rupees in cash have also been recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed officers to continue operations against criminal elements.
