Lahore:Under the directive of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, a rank pinning ceremony was held at the Central Police Office for officers promoted to the DSP grade. IG Punjab, alongside senior officials, pinned the DSP rank on 35 newly promoted officers. A large number of parents, children, and family members of the promoted DSPs attended the ceremony. IG Punjab and senior officers extended their congratulations to the promoted officers and their families. IG Punjab emphasized the critical importance of DSPs’ operational and investigative roles, supervisory responsibilities, and their feedback in policing. Addressing security, law and order, terrorism, and curbing sectarian hatred remain the foremost challenges confronting the police force. Punjab Police serves as a strong protective barrier against Khawarji terrorists at border checkpoints and against bandits in rural areas. IG Punjab directed officers to offer selfless service and fearless protection to citizens in return for their promotions and welfare benefits. He stressed the importance of utilizing modern technology, advanced information systems, delivering excellent service, and ensuring easy access to justice. IG Punjab highlighted that digital technology is being employed to ensure transparency in recruitment, promotions, and postings. Confidence in the force’s transparency-based service and promotion structure, human resource management, and e-force system has grown significantly. Punjab Police Spokesperson informed that the promotion board had recently promoted 102 inspectors to the DSP rank. It is noteworthy that in the last three years, a total of 3,618 officers from Grade 16 to 18 have been promoted across various ranks, including 732 inspectors promoted to DSP and 1,701 sub-inspectors elevated to inspector rank.Furthermore, IG Punjab noted that additional promotion opportunities will be created through the Cyber Crime Unit, Rights Management Police, and Punjab Tourism Police. Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, DIG Establishment I Salman Sultan Rana, DIG Headquarters Dr. Abid Khan, DIG Establishment II Captain (Retd) Liaqat Ali Malik, and AIG Finance Nida Umar Chattha also participated in the ceremony.
