LAHORE:The Crime Control Department (CCD), Punjab has made a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown against absconding criminals residing abroad, arresting five fugitives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).According to a spokesperson for the department, the arrests were made by the CCD’s Special Operations Cell during a successful operation conducted in coordination with UAE authorities. The arrested individuals were wanted in connection with serious criminal offences, including multiple murder and financial fraud cases.The suspects are currently being brought to Pakistan in CCD custody and are expected to arrive in Lahore later today.Among the apprehended is Muhammad Jameel, wanted by Sialkot Police in a murder case. Gulbaz Khan, sought by Narowal Police in a separate homicide investigation and Muhammad Ilyas, accused of murder in Faisalabad, have also been extradited.The operation also resulted in the arrest of two suspects involved in white-collar crime. Naveed Dar, wanted by Lahore Police in a financial fraud case, and Shehzam Khurshid, accused of a similar offence in Faisalabad, are also among those brought back.A CCD spokesperson reiterated the department’s firm resolve to bring fugitives to justice, stating, “Those who commit crimes in Pakistan and flee abroad to avoid legal proceedings will be pursued relentlessly and brought back through legal channels. There is zero tolerance for criminals operating or hiding overseas.”
