LAHORE:Welfare measures for the Punjab Police force and their families are continuing. Providing details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that during the current year, more than Rs 1.43 billion have been spent on the welfare of the police force. An amount exceeding Rs 451.388 million was issued as educational scholarships for the children of police employees. Similarly, Rs 408.640 million were given as wedding gifts for the daughters of police employees, while over Rs 205.937 million were issued to assist with medical treatment facilities. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that more than Rs 140.872 million as maintenance allowance fund were given to the families of police employees, while over Rs 180.343 million were issued as retirement grants to police employees. The spokesperson of Punjab Police further said that Rs 38.850 million were provided to the families of the force for funeral expenses, while more than Rs 10.2 million were given to the police force as immediate financial assistance. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the Police Welfare Fund and income generated from welfare sources are being used to address the difficulties of police employees and their families.
