Lahore:On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police’s rescue and relief operation is continuing without interruption in light of the flood situation in various rivers across the province. Punjab Police spokesperson while providing details, said that approximately 100,000 flood victims have been rescued to safe locations, including 40,359 men, 30,000 women, and more than 27,600 children. Punjab Police also moved more than 86,000 livestock trapped in flood-affected areas to safe locations. In Lahore, over 5,000 people have been rescued from flood-affected areas and taken to safe places. Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 700 vehicles and 40 boats of the Punjab Police are being used for the rescue operations.IG Punjab said that on the instructions of Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police are taking extensive measures for the safe evacuation and relief of flood victims. He instructed the officers to further accelerate the evacuation and rescue activities for the affected people from flood-hit areas. He emphasized ensuring the provision of security, food, and other necessities for the affected individuals taking shelter in flood relief camps. He also stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination with PDMA, district administration, Rescue, and other security departments.
